Navy is not only a timeless color in interior design -- it also serves as a 'neutral backdrop' for other colors when designing a space.

It's a week before Mother's Day -- and perhaps (if you are a mother) you are wondering just what the special people in your life are going to do to celebrate you. :) In case you think the people in your life need prompting.. you can send them a link to this blog post!
Without being too sappy -- as a mother, I'd say the best gift of all is to be a mother. I've got two boys, ages 24 and 21. And I feel very blessed.
I'm not a 'going out to brunch' kind of gal on Mother's Day -- in fact, truth be told, in years past I would ask for a 'day off' on Mother's Day and go shopping with my BFF! But in case your loved ones need some inspiration... I've rounded up a few ideas for Mother's Day Gifts:
1. After the Rain, original art by Bridgette Thornton
This gorgeous piece by Bridgette Thornton is part of a new series available in my studio. It is framed in a simple white frame (not shown). Price is $750. It would look so great in an entryway! Click here to purchase.
2. Natasha Grasso Jewelry
Internationally renowned jewelry designer Natasha Grasso has a beautiful little studio shop in my hometown of Moraga. Who would have thunk? We've become friends, and she's a sweetheart! While perusing her site recently, I noticed that she had this gorgeous set of necklaces for sale entitled "Love Leslie". Of course, intrigued, because my name is Leslie -- I wanted to see the details. Turns out, Natasha has created these necklaces to honor and support a woman named Leslie in our area (no, not me) who is battling breast cancer. Natasha is donating 15% of all purchases to the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center in Leslie's name. I'm betting that Leslie is a mother and now I want one of those necklaces. I don't know Leslie (although I love her name!) but I'm going to keep her in my thoughts and send her light and love.
3. Double Gourd Vase
Well, now after reading about Leslie and her situation, this double gourd vase seems kind of frivolous doesn't it?
I have two available in my shop and I will join Natasha Grasso in supporting Leslie's battle with breast cancer and donate 25% percent of the purchase price to the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center in Leslie's name. Click here to purchase through my shop.
4. Malibu, original art by Bridgette Thornton
Another beautiful piece by Bridgette Thornton. Framed in white frame (not shown) and available at my studio. Price is $750. Contact me if you are interested. This painting is so crisp and bright -- it would look perfect in a white kitchen! Click here to purchase.
5. Coconut Oil
The effects of motherhood (think sleepless nights when your kids are babies -- and then again, even more sleepless nights when your kids are in high school), day to day life, aging, and stress might be combated for a good 15 minutes while you soak in a tub using this coconut oil body polish. The 21st century version of "Calgon". For those of us of a certain age....you remember the commercial, right?!
6. The Gift Card
Like I said, my joyous Mother's Days' in years past were spent shopping with my BFF while my husband was in charge of the kids! What's not to love at Nordstrom!
Thanks for stopping by. Celebrate life with those you love!
