Oftentimes, in my interior design projects, my clients have ‘that awkward space’ in their home. It’s a space that might be in a funky location in their house, or a space that is too small for a sofa, etc.
In this project, in Orinda, Ca., I was tasked with coming up with a design solution for a landing space at the top of a stairwell. It was a space that was too small for a loveseat and chairs, and too big and open to use as a home office.
So….we decided to create a pretty place for reading and for sipping wine after a long day. :)
A neutral rug grounded the space, and then I specified custom chairs and ottomans using fabric from one of my favorite vendors, Thibaut Design .
The result? A happy and pretty space to hang out. And do you want to know a secret? In an effort to stay on budget, the ottomans were purchased from Wayfair and then slipcovered in custom fabric!
